Yes, they are likely terrified of her. She owes the Republican Party just about zilch.

Good for her. They support her primary opponent, although not nearly as openly as the Democrats supported Ned Lamont (remember him?) against Joe Lieberman, they fall at the feet of her mortal enemy, Sarah Palin, they take away her leadership post as vice chairman of the Senate Republican conference, then they act offended when she votes for cloture on DADT and criticizes the "leadership" for spending its time on the quixotic quest to repeal HCR.
If McConnell et al keep this up, Murkowski should go into the Republican caucus and say, "Hey, I won as an independent, no thanks to you. I think you had better show me a little respect, because if you don't, Harry Reid and his friends will."
